Some 124 cities among 338 at prefecture level and above across China suffered heavy air pollution during fireworks celebrations between Friday night – the Lunar New Year’s Eve – and Saturday morning, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection on Sunday. Poor air quality has prompted some cities to impose restrictions on sales of fireworks during the holiday period.
