Some 124 cities among 338 at prefecture level and above across China suffered heavy air pollution during fireworks celebrations between Friday night – the Lunar New Year’s Eve – and Saturday morning, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection on Sunday. Poor air quality has prompted some cities to impose restrictions on sales of fireworks during the holiday period. But will the absence of a big bang to ring in the New Year make the holiday season less festive? CGTV’s Ning Hong has the report.
