A powerful 6.5-magnitude earthquake has damaged buildings in Hualien in eastern Taiwan, according to the China Earthquake Administration (CEA). The tremor struck at 23:50 (15:50 GMT) Tuesday about 12 miles off the island's east coast. Local media reported that at least two have been killed and more than 200 injured. The ground floor of the Marshal Hotel in Hualien County caved in, causing the death of one employee.
