China's Political Season: How the CPPCC can change Chinese people's lives
[]
Every year, ministers and heads of government organs receive proposals from CPPCC members, discuss the issues and then provide feedback over a year.
During last year's session, over four thousand proposals were registered -- 99 percent received a response, and 84% were approved.
90 percent of the proposals are handled by the State Council and its subordinate departments.
For example, the Environmental Protection Ministry oversaw 314 proposals in 2017 -- and achieved a 100% satisfaction rate from CPPCC members.
These proposals contain fundamental issues including the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, poverty alleviation, and the rule of law. They also covered daily issues like the management of shared bikes in big cities, cyber crime and air pollution.
