China has been the world's largest smartphone market by volume since 2011. The fast growing population of mobile users has come with intensive competition in mobile app development, a switch of focus from previously fierce competition in the hardware market.
Although this has been harsh on software developers and technology companies, Chinese customers are set to benefit from the outcome. With more IT companies and app developers entering the market, customers' lives are expected be made more convenient and secure.
nternet users, for example, are demanding a smoother online experience with stable video and audio transmission which is essential in phone calls, video chats and multiplayer video games. Agora, a Shanghai-based startup company, was determined to provide low-cost, yet effective solutions.
Pleasing domestic customers, however, is not enough. Catching up with the global market has become a mission for many technology companies in China. Several big brands like Hair, Xiaomi and Huawei have already hit the overseas market.
For China's mobile app startups particularly, innovation will be the key to survive the international market.
