Sculptures created and donated by five French artists are on display at the National Art Museum of China. The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic ties. Sun Wei takes a look.
A total of 37 pieces, made of bronze, wood or resin. These works were created by five artists from the Academy of Fine Arts at the Institute of France, one of the top-notch establishments in the artistic arena.
In realism or abstractionism, they express the sculptors' ideas about the relationship between man and nature, and convey their feelings towards life.
Bringing China a glimpse of French contemporary sculpture art, the exhibition is one of the International Exchange Exhibition Series of the National Art Museum of China.
WU WEISHAN, DIRECTOR NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF CHINA "Our museum has hosted China-France exchange exhibitions a few times in recent years. We brought our works to Paris and brought theirs back here. This exhibition not only gives us a better understanding of France's modern and contemporary art, but through these works, we can see the artistic traditions and history rooted in them, which has influenced China's modern art since the last century."
The sculptures will be displayed to the public until July 9th, before becoming permanent collections of the museum.
SUN WEI BEIJING "All these works being exhibited have been donated to the museum by the artists. They will bear eternal witness to China-France cultural exchange and the friendship between the two peoples. SW, CGTN, Beijing."
