China and the US held their first ever diplomatic and strategic dialogue on Wednesday in Washington. The two sides agreed to handle their differences on the basis of mutual respect.
Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi co-chaired the meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
China reiterated its stance on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula by maintaining peace and stability through talks and negotiation.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that China has played a constructive role in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
China also urged the US to halt its deployment of the controversial THAAD anti-ballistic missile defense system in South Korea.
