New York staged a massive rally in a show of defiance after the worst attack on the city since September 11, 2001. Millions of people packed the streets to cheer on 50,000 marathon participants from around the world.
Many who had come to watch spoke of overcoming their fears as New Yorkers proved their resilience in the aftermath of a truck attack that killed eight people and wounded 12 others in Manhattan near the 9/11 Memorial.
A New York resident named Giovanni said "We can't be scared, we have to be united as a country, and we have to be strong for what happened, it sucks, but we will get through it as a country."
