Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday registered his official candidacy for the presidential elections on April 22.
During the ceremony at the National Electoral Council (CNE), Maduro said, "I made a formal delivery (of my candidacy)... to become the presidential candidate."
In handing over his registration to CNE, Maduro also presented his Plan for the Nation 2019-2025 which he said had been consulted on by over 3.5 million Venezuelans.

Maduro's candidacy is supported by the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the recently created Movimiento Somos Venezuela (We Are Venezuela Movement), the Tupamaro Movement, Patria Para Todos (PPT), the Alliance for Change Movement and the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), among others.
Former Venezuelan governor Henri Falcon who also announced his candidacy on state television Tuesday, will run against Maduro despite a coalition of opposition parties saying last week it would not present a candidate as it considered the elections a "fraudulent, illegitimate" process.
