A “weman’s morality class” video caused an online debate a few days ago. An instructor was seen teaching that women should get up very early in the morning, spend eight additional hours in household work and keep silent.
The instructor also said that women remain obedient and learn to kneel down for forgiveness.
Women should wear heavy makeup, which the instructor said is against women’s morality.
The Fushun traditional cultural school was set up by the city's non-governmental Traditional Culture Research Association, with official approval in April 2011, Xinhua reported.
The school's curriculum includes Di Zi Gui, or other women’s morality lectures, which are based on the ancient teaching of the Chinese philosopher Confucius that emphasizes the basic requisites for being a good person and guidelines for living in harmony with others.
After the video surfaced online, the authorities instructed the Municipal Education Bureau to investigate the matter.
The inquiry found out that the school has been giving lessons at a private location without seeking, violating the Private Education Promotion Law in China.
The school has branches in Zhejiang, Henan and Hainan Provinces.
Fushun Education Bureau stated that the women’s morality lectures are contradictory to social morality. It ordered the closure of the school.
