Defense and regional security are at the top of the agenda for Tran Dia Quang's visit to India, aiming to boost ties in key areas.
Vietnam wants India to play a more active role in south-east Asia in order to maintain an environment of peace and stability in the region.
India has India has supported Vietnam in training, capacity building, defense technology transfer and defense credit.

In trade ties, India is among the top ten trading partners and the trade between the two countries has picked up at an average of 16 percent in the last ten years. The two nations will set new targets in the area of trade.
KV KESAWAN, EXPERT EAST ASIA "We have set a target of 15 billion dollars by 2020 or something. There is enormous prospects of trade going up in the coming year because India can supply a lot of things and Vietnam can supply a lot of raw material."
The Vietnamese president will be accompanied by an 18-member delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister as well as the ministers for trade and industry and planning and investment. Ravinder Bawa, Delhi.
