A pedestrian was flattened when a large shop sign fell on her head in Foshan City of southern China’s Guangdong Province on Jan. 18. Local reports said she suffered injuries to her waist and one of her legs. The restaurant sign was said to be in disrepair, which may have contributed to the incident. Following a spate of accidents involving collapsing shop facades, China’s neighbor Singapore is intending to impose new regulatory rules on facade inspection to enhance public safety.
