Xinjiang launches railway linking old network to high-speed rail

A network connecting a traditional train system with modern rail has been launched between the Southern Xinjiang Railway and the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-speed Railway. Trains on the high-speed line can go much faster and hence cut travel time.

The 11-kilometer link, extending with the Lanzhou−Xinjiang High-speed Railway (HSR) in between, connect the HSR line with the Southern Xinjiang Railway and the Lanzhou−Xinjiang Accommodation Railway.

The railways will transfer passengers shuttling between these rail lines at a designated speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
