Over 600 pupils and teachers came together to write Spring Festival couplets in Ganzhou city, east China's Jiangxi Province, earlier this week. Spring Festival couplets, or Chunlian in Chinese, are the most common and important custom when celebrating the Chinese New Year. The tradition is preserved in modern cities as well as rural areas. Spring Festival couplets are usually inscribed with lines of poetry or auspicious sayings.
