Realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation demands "a great struggle, a great project and a great cause," Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said at the opening session of the 19th CPC National Congress on Wednesday.
Xi made the remarks while delivering a report entitled "Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The CPC general secretary expressed confidence that the Chinese Dream will soon become a reality.
"Today, we are closer, more confident, and more capable than ever before of making the goal of national rejuvenation a reality," Xi said, adding that the Party is working even harder to achieve the goal.
According to Xi, realizing the great dream of national rejuvenation requires a great struggle to respond to challenges, withstand risks, overcome obstacles and address conflicts of contemporary times. It also needs a great project of Party building, and a great cause of advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
"This great struggle, great project, great cause, and great dream are closely connected, flow seamlessly into each other, and are mutually reinforcing," Xi noted. "Among them, the great new project of Party building plays the decisive role."
He stressed that national rejuvenation would be "wishful thinking" without the leadership of the CPC.
