Syria's ambassador to the UN, Bashar Ja'afari, says Syrian rebels smuggled chemical substances from Libya, and the operation was initiated by intelligence services from the US, France, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview that her country is ready to protect its people in Syria if missiles are launched by the US and its allies. US President Trump is yet to decide on possible military actions against Syria, in response to a suspected chemical attack in the rebel-held town of Douma on Saturday.
