Exclusive interview: Panamanian president on relationship with China and the world

"Events like Davos bring [world] leaders together so they can find solutions to the problems that affect people," Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela said during an interview with CGTN reporter Tian Wei at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
Varela reaffirmed Panama's adherence to the one-China principle and emphasized his support of the China-led Belt and Road Initiative.
"Panama is going to be working very closely with China," he said.
Last November, Varela made his first state visit to China since the two countries established diplomatic relations in June.
The president hopes to see more cooperation with China in various fields.
