Ambassador of China to the US Cui Tiankai opposed Taiwan arms-sale plan, reported CCTV.
There are forces who do not want to see a sound development of China-US relations, the ambassador said.
China would take a strong stand against such actions undermining China-US relations and would make necessary response, said Cui, despite the US saying it will not change its adherence to one-China principle.
China would maintain the right direction of bilateral relations as a conducive way to the long-term interests of both countries, Cui added.
The US Department of State approved weapon sales to Taiwan worth about 1.42 billion US dollars on Thursday, which is the first arms sales to Taiwan since Donald Trump took office.
