Xi calls on CPC to continue to comprehensively deepen reform

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called on the Party to continue to comprehensively deepen reform.

Xi made the remarks at the opening session of the 19th CPC National Congress on Wednesday, while delivering a report titled "Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The general secretary elaborated on the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, explaining its pillars as follows:

- Ensuring Party leadership over all work

- Committing to a people-centered approach

- Continuing to comprehensively deepen reform

- Adopting a new vision for development

- Seeing that the people run the country
