US President Donald Trump will host French President Emmanuel Macron for a state visit on April 24, the White House said on Monday.
The two leaders hope to advance the bilateral cooperation on economic and global issues and deepen the friendship between the two countries, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters. It will be the first official state visit for Macron to the US since Trump took office.
The two leaders last met in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. After the talks, Trump tweeted it was a "great honor" to spend time with Macron.
In July, Trump went to Paris to watch a military parade on the Champs-Elysees on the Bastille Day under the invitation of Macron.
The French president seized the opportunity to strengthen military cooperation and coordinated anti-terror efforts between the two countries in the Middle East and Africa.
