With the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival around the corner, the organizing committee has announced some of the films nominated for Golden Goblet Awards, as well as ticket information. Reporter Huang Yuanqing has the story.
Eight feature films, five documentaries and five animated movies are competing for awards. Six more feature films will also compete for Golden Goblets, but they will be announced later. Officials said they received a record 3,447 entries from 108 countries and regions all over the world, 1,000 films more than last year. Renowned filmmaker and actor Jiang Wen will chair the jury panel for the festival's Golden Goblet Awards.
FU WENXIA, MANAGING DIRECTOR SIFF COMMITTEE "Our film festival is getting more and more popular around the world, which attracts more people to join. Due to cooperation with various film organizations, more filmmakers are able to get the information and sign up online. So the entries increased rapidly this year."
Around 500 domestic and foreign film productions at 45 cinemas will be screened around the city. On June 9th, tickets for the Panorama will go on sale at 8 am online and 10 am at cinemas. It's the first time the festival will sell tickets at different times.
ZHU YANCHUN, VICE PRESIDENT TAO PIAOPIAO "Previously, cinemas started to sell the tickets at 8 am, which caused many people to wait in line for the whole night. So we offered two options this time, making it easier for them to buy tickets."
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, the film festival will host a Chinese film poster exhibition, theme forum, and an exhibition of Chinese cinema. The television festival will look back at domestic dramas over 60 years. More than 800 recent productions from 50 countries and regions have applied to enter the TV festival's Magnolia Awards.
