China unveiled the official outfit for Chinese athletes to wear at the 2018 Winter Olympics award ceremonies in PyeongChang. The launch ceremony took place at the country's General Administration of Sports in Beijing on Tuesday.
The award ceremony outfit is designed by the Chinese sports brand ANTA, based on the traditional Chinese "dragon." A potent symbol of fortune and power, the dragon plays an important role in Chinese mythology and folklore. The design aims to inspire Olympic athletes by expressing the legendary creature’s bravery and unstoppable spirit through combining the dragon totem with the Chinese character for "winter" on the outfit's shoulder.
ANTA Sports is a trusted partner of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), which has provided outfits for the Chinese sports delegation in over 30 international games over the past eight years. The brand will also collaborate with the Chinese national team for the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.
