Major stock indices in the US and Europe finished trading on Thursday on a positive note. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 1-point-1 percent. The S&P 500 gained 1-point-4 percent. And the Nasdaq Composite was up 1-point-6 percent.
Also on Thursday, the US released its latest unemployment data. The number of Americans filing for jobless benefits dropped to a more than 45-year low last week. And US trade representative Robert Lighthizer's comments on the likelihood of an agreement between China and the US eased market fears over a breakout of trade war.
Over in Europe, shares continued to recover from a recent correction triggered by fears over a trade war. The British FTSE gained 0-point-2 percent. The German DAX finished up 1-point-3 percent. And the French CAC 40 advanced 0-point-7 percent.
