College professor fired for threatening students for bad online reviews

Officials at Anhui Institute of International Business in east China’s Anhui Province announced on Tuesday that a professor has been dismissed for threatening to fail the students who gave him bad reviews on the school’s evaluation system.
According to the screenshots posted online, an instructor with the surname Lu from the Finance Department previously wrote two messages on his social network after finding four negative reviews on his teaching by his students, which would be used to evaluate his overall job performance.

“This weekend I’ll login to the system and get student 12, 16, 17 and 23. (expletive),” wrote one of the messages.
The other message said: “First student finally locked down…so you’re dead. I can’t deprive your right to education. You have the right to evaluating my work. But I have the right to decide whether you pass my course or not.”

Lu’s claim to be able to identify each student has raised questions among the students about the so-called anonymous evaluation system.
However, a staff member of the school then replied that what Lu said was completely untrue.
“People login to the system with real names and comment anonymously. It is safe and secure. Teachers can only read the general comment.” He told Beijing Time.  So how did Lu get the information? Nobody knows.

But for some students are not worried about being exposed. One student openly posted a bad review of Lu on  the school’s bulletin board system.  He said, “What Lu does in class is just brag about his glorious past.” The student even called him an “immoral teacher”.
After being informed of Lu’s behavior, the school had a meeting on Monday morning, where a decision had been made – his work contract would be terminated immediately and his remaining classes would be taken over by other teachers in the department.
