Summer is now in full bloom, and so is China's music festival season with a unique new highlight this year, directly from Singapore. Ge Ning was there to check it out.
GE NING CGTN REPORTER  "I'm at It's The Ship, the biggest EDM festival on the sea in Asia, and this is the first time it's happening in China. We have set sail from Shanghai and before this pool party starts, I'm gonna dive right in."
It's The Ship brings more than a hundred DJs from all across Asia, Europe and America for a 5-day 4-night cruise party. With almost non-stop EDM performances and pool parties, It's The Ship has become the most exciting party on the continent.
MONA WANG FESTIVAL ATTENDEE "This is the first time I've been to an event like this, everyone has been partying all day and all night, so I'm really feeling the atmosphere."
Apart from big names like van Doorn, the festival also highlighted talented DJs from China, such as Shanghai's very own Corsak, whose most famous single has got more than 100 million plays on Tik Tok.
Unlike other festivals, male DJs aren't the only ones getting top billings: Rayray is the centerpiece of her record label's show.
RAYRAY DJ "The one thing that decides if you are good or not in this industry is your work, your music. Don't ever think 'oh, there are more boys than girls in the industry so I shouldn't stand out'. No, the only thing matters here is your music and your stage performance."
Although the Netherlands is the traditional home of dance music, It's The Ship is showing that China looks certain to be the new hotspot of EDM.
A few years ago, festivals like this were unknown in China, but, with the arrival of Creamfields, Ultra and now It's The Ship, they prove that the EDM scene in China is rising and it's unstoppable. Ge Ning, CGTN, East China Sea.
