National Basketball Association: Indiana 92 - Milwaukee 89
[]
Over to the NBA and an intriguing match-up in the East. Indiana hosting Milwaukee as the two teams jockey for playoff positioning. The Pacers are fourth, two full games ahead of the Bucks, who are clinging to the final post-season berth in the conference. Indy has been led this season by Victor Oladipo, but the All-Star would have an off-night, giving up ten turnovers -- so it would Croatian Bojan Bogdanovich that would chip in with a season high to help the Pacers.
The hosts were a nice two-man game early as Domantas Sabonis is able to get the hoop and harm, and give his side a 5-point edge. Giannis is also able to get three the hard way as he is hacked in the act -- Bucks have the lead. Oladipa helps Indy stay close as he hits the pull-up jumper, but the hosts trail at half-time. The hosts go on a 19-5 run to start the third quarter -- thanks to triples like this from Bogdanovich -- and it's a 15-point game.
Milwaukee would match that spurt with one of their own, Jabari Parker gets to the cup for a deuce, and the lead is down to 1. Indy tries to get some breathing room, as Bogdanovich gets into the lane, and he is fouled, and gets the continuation. He extends the lead. Eric Bledsoe closes the gap -- as he cans a jumper -- he had a team high 26, and its suddenly a 4-point game. Then the Greek Freak trims it to 2, as he converts the lob pass from Kris Middleton, it's 90-88 with about 90 seconds left.
The Bucks have another chance to tie it in the final seconds, but Giannis cannot find the range -- as Indy holds on for a 3-point win.
In other action, Larry Nance Jr. had a career-high 22 points as Cleveland rolls Detroit. Boston crushes Chicago, even though Kyrie Irving sat out. San Antonio hands Memphis their 14th straight loss. Miami topples Phoenix thanks to 24 points from Hassan Whiteside. Utah beats Orlando. Portland storms back to beat the Lakers. Damian Lillard scoring 19 of his 39 in the fourth in the win.
