Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People's Party and the country's prime minister, on Friday.
Hun Sen is in Beijing to attend the Communist Party of China in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting, scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
Xi said that Hun Sen is a good friend, old friend and true friend of China, and that "our bilateral relations are at present in one of the best periods in history."
The two countries keep enhancing political mutual trust and expanding practical cooperation in various areas and "promote people-to-people exchanges," Xi noted.
Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia. Xi called for the two sides taking the opportunity to further promote the development of bilateral ties.
Xi stressed that China always views and treats China-Cambodia relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. "Cambodia's government always offers firm support for China on issues concerning its core interests," Xi noted.
Xi vowed to promote close corporation in various areas, including the United Nations, East Asia Cooperation and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanisms. "We should form communities of common destiny of China and Cambodia," Xi added.
Hun Sen congratulated Xi on his re-election as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China. "We are satisfied with the high trust bilateral relationship and we hope to deepen the communication with China and improve the governance capacity," said Hun Sen.
