Vladimir Putin won another six-year term in Russia's presidential election on Sunday, putting him on track to become the country's longest-serving leader.
According to the Central Election Commission, Putin received 76 percent of the vote, a big increase from the 64 percent he won in 2012. His closest competitor in election, Pavel Grudinin, won only 12 percent of the vote. Putin's most vocal critic Alexei Navalny, was barred from the ballot because of a criminal conviction. Turnout was 67 percent, slightly higher than the 65 percent in the last election. Despite video footage of alleged ballot stuffing, the Central Election Commission said no serious complaints of violations had been registered so far.
