Beijing Guoan's game against Shandong Luneng was notable for featuring two German coaches matching wits in the Chinese Super League for the first time on Saturday.
And while Roger Schmidt sought to extend the Capital Club's winning streak to 5 straight matches, Felix Magath would rely on the tactics he honed back in Europe, to help the Orange Fighters hand some frustration the home team.

After a 2-2 draw in Beijing, Felix Magath's Shandong side became the first team to take points from Schimdt's Guoan. The former Fulham coach was able to keep his starting 11 in fourth place in the table, and to retain a three-point edge over their opponents.
Because of previous good results and performances, a fifth straight win was half-expected from the Guoan fans. But despite coming away with a point, they were happy with the continuing efforts of Schmidt and his new methods at the Workers' Stadium. The former Bayer Leverkusen boss has revitalized the Capital Club since landing in China and their loyal faithful couldn't wait to see how he would fair against compatriot Magath.
After falling 1-0 behind in the early stages, Guoan kept their composure to tear down the visitors' defence. Schmidt's new brand of attacking football has surprised many.

But Magath's men would silence the noisy Green Army. They proved to be persistent and prolific in attack. Papiss Cisse slotting in the equalizer right on half-time, optimizing the never-say-die attitude of his coach.
The first match between the two German coaches ended with no losers on the pitch. Both side paraded their bosses' philosophies and will continue to fight on as the Super League enters crunch time.
