Indonesian police on Tuesday arrested five suspected ISIL militants and seized chemicals that were to be used for attacks on several locations, including the presidential palace.
The group planned to launch the attacks at the end of August, on targets including the presidential palace in Jakarta, as well as the headquarters of the police's elite force and security officers, according to police spokesman Yusri Yunus.
Yusri said the militants arrested in the city of Bandung were members of Jemaah Anshorut Daulah (JAD), a local terrorist network which has been behind a series of recent attacks in Indonesia, including a siege on downtown Jakarta in January last year. It also has ties with the ISIL.
"They belong to the JAD group, and one of them had learnt (to assemble bombs) from one of Bahrun Naim's blogs," he added. Bahrun Naim was the alleged mastermind of the 2016 Jakarta siege, and is believed to have joined ISIL in Syria.
