At least 11 people were killed and many others injured in a car bomb explosion near a police checkpoint in Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta on Friday morning.
A suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle when he was stopped by police at a checkpost near the complex housing the Balochistan police chief's office.
The local Civil Hospital confirmed the death toll and said the number could further rise, as some of the injured are in a critical condition. Rescue teams, police and security forces were dispatched to the site and the area has been cordoned off for investigation.
No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
