Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter of congratulations to the Fortune Global Forum, which opens on Wednesday morning in southern China’s Guangzhou City.
Xi said in the letter that the theme of this year’s forum is “Openness & Innovation: Shaping the Global Economy”, which has great importance in enhancing global economic growth.
He also pledged to liberalize and facilitate trade and investment and welcomes more foreign companies to invest in China.
China’s Vice Premier Wang Yang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech, saying that globalization is the precondition of shaping a new pattern of world economy.
The Forum gathers over 1,000 participants across the world including business leaders, economists and scholars. They share thoughts on the future of global trade, finance, as well as on industries such as health care, urban development, and transportation.
Attendees have been deeply impressed by Chinese leaders’ messages.
“I’d like to thank President Xi for the incredibly generous letter. I found the letter inspiring,” said Clifton Leaf, editor-in-Chief of Fortune told CGTN.
"The part that really got me excited is that China opened the door in the past and is going to keep that door open. That’s really important for the global community."
