Imagine having access to the cultural and architectural designs of more than one hundred countries in one space. Well, you can get that right here at the Beijing expo. But it's not all about plants. Our reporter Wei Lynn Tang has been "people-watching" over the past few days and she told us what she saw.
Flowers, plants, picture-worthy moments, thousands gather at the International Horticultural Expo each day.
WEI LYNN TANG BEIJING "But it's also about the little things. While rushing from one garden to another pavilion, a few things have stood out to me. Firstly, I am amazed at how so many foreigners here are able to converse in fluent Chinese!"
This man from Turkey has been living in China for 9 years. Having studied Chinese language in Xi'an, and having done business thereafter, he is all too used to his life in China.
Secondly, it warms my heart when I see families of three to even four generations bonding at the Expo.
And this fun has reached out to kids as young and cheeky as 5!
This is a great opportunity for our child to see the local customs and traditions of each country. He would also understand their horticulture and architecture. If he sees any country that he likes, he would have more motivation to visit that country to find out more about it.
So, next time, he will have more opportunity to pick the environment, country and city that he likes to live in. We also hope to spur his interest in mother nature through this Expo.
WEI LYNN TANG BEIJING "Sometimes, it's Expos like these which, beyond its living green agenda, remind us that cultural and people-to-people exchanges go beyond one's nationality, age, and even religion. I'm WLT, and I've had an inspiring and educational time here at the International Horticultural Expo, in Beijing."
