The District Court of Hong Kong has sentenced two men to three years in prison for taking part in rioting that rocked the city’s Mong Kok district last summer.
The court handed a third man a “training center order”, which could potentially include community service or a course of rehabilitation.
The three were remanded in custody following their convictions on July 17. Two others were acquitted at Monday’s trial.
Monday’s court verdict was the third ruling regarding the Mong Kok riots. In April, the District Court sentenced a 32-year-old to four years and nine months in prison for rioting and arson. The first rioting convictions in March saw three protesters receive a three-year prison term in what the judge said was a deterrent sentence.
