Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday sent a message of condolence to his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika over Wednesday’s deadly plane crash.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people, as well as himself, Xi expressed deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the victims and their families.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also offered condolence to Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia on Thursday.
A total of 257 people were killed after an Algerian military plane crashed just after taking off near the Boufarik military airport on Wednesday. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
The Algerian government has declared a three-day national mourning following this worst-ever air disaster in the country's history.
