Turkish arplanes resumed strikes on Kurdish YPG militia targets in Syria's Afrin region. According to newspaper Hurriyet, Turkey had halted air strikes for five days as Russia worked on its air defence system. This was after Syrian rebels shot down a Russian warplane in Idlib province early February. The state-run Anadolu news agency said Turkish warplanes hit at least six targets in air strikes that began around midnight. Turkey launched an air and ground offensive against Kurdish YPG fighters in Afrin on January 20.
