Olympic 800m champion David Rudisha of Kenya confirmed he will launch his season at the Shanghai Diamond League meet May 12. The 28-year-old has not raced since he injured his thigh in July, which ultimately ruled him out of the London World Championships.
Organizers announced 14 world and Olympic champions will join other stars of international track and field for the one-day competition. Other reigning Diamond League champions who will be looking for early points include the women's 400m hurdles champion Dalilah Muhammad, and world indoor and outdoor high jump champion Mariya Lasitskene.
China's Asian indoor champion in the long jump Shi Yuhao will be there, as will other PRC teammembers Su Bingtian and Gong Lijiao.
