17 years after it was founded - the SCO now accounts for nearly half of the world's population and more than 20-percent of global GDP. We now hear leaders' visions for the organization and their impressions of China.
VLADIMIR PUTIN, RUSSIAN PRESIDENT "The SCO member states account for one-fourth of the world's GDP, 43 percent of the international population and 23 percent of the global territory. These are very substantial and huge resources."
MAMNOON HUSSAIN, PAKISTANI PRESIDENT "SCO is cooperating with other countries in the region as well as other parts of the world. This has helped many countries in the world for the economic progress and for the connectivity of different parts of the world."
  NURSULTAN NAZARBAYEV, KAZAKHSTAN'S PRESIDENT "There are now more than 65 countries that have joined the Belt and Road Initiative with roughly 600 billion US dollars in investment. The 100 billion dollar Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was built. Our funds are used to benefit people in all countries and all these are achievements under the SCO framework."
EMOMALI RAHMON, TAJIKISTAN'S PRESIDENT "The SCO has a high-profile in the international community. This year's summit has historic significance. It's the first time eight member countries are taking part in the summit after India and Pakistan joined."
