The death toll in parts of northern India, southern Nepal and Bangladesh devastated by flooding and landslides has risen to 218, while millions more have been displaced.
In Nepal, elephants were sent by local hotels to rescue tourists stranded in the Chitwan district, a popular destination for rhino-watching.
Landslides and flooding are common across southern Asia during the summer monsoon season that runs from June to September.
