WTA Miami Open: Kerber defeats Larsson 6-2, 6-2

Over at the Miami Open, tenth seed Angelique Kerber was in second round action, taking on Sweden's Johanna Larsson, who was playing in place of the injured Lucie Safarova. A two-year title drought for the German ended in January when she won the Sydney International, and looked odds on to advance here, against a women she had never dropped a set against in two previous encounters.
We pick up the action with Larsson, in yellow shorts, serving down a break and facing a break point. Kerber, a two-time major winner, keeping the play alive, despite being pushed around the court, and fires an out-stretched forehand for a winner, en route to taking the set 6-2.
Its more of the same in the second set. Kerber gets two early breaks which eventually puts her at match point. A routine 6-2, 6-2 win is sealed when the world number 79 sends a return high and wide. The triumphant German will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the third round.
Also in action is world number one Simona Halep, at the top of your screen, who loses the first set 6-3 against French qualifier Oceane Dodin. The 26-year-old begins her fightback in the second with a precise backhand, as she levels things by the same score.
The 21-year-old, Dodin, shows spirit in the decider. But her Romanian counterpart wraps things up with an ace, as Halep advances 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and will face Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska next.
