China’s Ministry of Commerce on Saturday decided to conduct an expiry review of imports of ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGBE) and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DEGBE) originated in the US and the EU, as a previously imposed five-year anti-dumping duty from Jan. 28, 2013, is about to expire.
The request for a sunset review was formally submitted to the ministry by Jiangsu Dynamic Chemistry Co., Ltd. on behalf of the domestic industry on Nov. 27, 2017, according to a statement posted on the Ministry's website.

The company said that termination of the anti-dumping duty would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury.
China currently levies anti-dumping duties of 10.6 to 14.1 percent against such imports from the US, and 9.3 to 18.8 percent from the EU.
The ministry will hold a year-long investigation, beginning from Sunday. The probe will look at products imported between Oct. 1, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2017.
The move comes amid heightened trade tensions between China and the US over products including steel and aluminum foil. US President Donald Trump has vowed to use trade policies to more aggressively protect American economic interests.
EGBE and DEGBE are chemical intermediate for synthesis, can be used as a solvent in high baked enamels, and act as an insert ingredient in pesticide products.
