Hot weather hit southwest China’s Sichuan province. The temperature in Luzhou city in the southern part of the province touched 41 degrees Celsius in the past week.
In the provincial capital, Chengdu, people experienced the temperature close to 35 degrees Celsius, and humid conditions have increased the discomfort in the heat.

Locals are trying different methods to beat the heat. Besides staying in air-conditioned rooms, people in Chengdu prefer relaxing in pools and under the trees.
A resident of Chengdu’s Renmin Park said that weather in the city this year is hotter, and she and her families and friends would usually go to a park for tea.

For others, the underground air defense works also became an option. Such places have a temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius.
Hundreds of locals and even travelers are seen in a tunnel in Renmin Park. Many of them are napping, chatting, drinking, and playing cards, and children are painting cartoons and doing their homework.

On hot days, cooling off in pools and water parks might just be the best thing to do. And that is what residents in Chengdu and other areas in Sichuan Province are doing to beat the heat.
A fresh heavy rain is expected on Monday in most of Sichuan. And that might change the weather.
