At least 13 people were killed and 49 others injured by a falling tree on the Portuguese island of Madeira on Tuesday, local media reported.

Two children were among the dead, according to Portuguese broadcaster RTP.

The incident reportedly happened during the local festival Festa de Nossa Senhora do Monte, which attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.
