Territorial Disputes: Seoul protests disputed island claims in Japan's textbooks

South Korea has denounced Japan's decision to claim sovereignty over a pair of disputed islets in new high school textbooks.
Tokyo on Friday approved new guidelines requiring high school students to be taught that the disputed islands belong to Japan. The foreign ministry in Seoul condemned the move and demanded an immediate retraction. South Korea also urged Tokyo's ambassador to lodge a protest.
