Asia Pacific nations agree on counter-terrorism measures

Indonesia and Australia jointly hosted a counter-terrorism meeting in the Indonesian city of Manado on Saturday, in a bid to address the rising threat of foreign fighters in the Asia Pacific region.
Law enforcement officials from six countries including Malaysia, the Philippines, New Zealand and Brunei attended the one-day gathering.
The meeting focused on the threat posed by radicalized militants returning from Syria and Iraq, and agreed on a series of measures to counter cross-border terrorism. The countries also addressed regional challenges posed by terrorist groups in Southeast Asia, as well as concerns that ISIL is trying establish a regional caliphate in the Philippines.
