China-US Trade Frictions: Beijing initiates consultation procedure on US Section 232 measures
[]
China's ministry of commerce says it has initiated a consultation procedure under the WTO's Dispute Resolution Mechanism against the US Section 232 measures for imported steel and aluminum products. The ministry said the US has been using national security as a banner to implement trade protectionism measures.
On the one hand, it said the US selectively excludes some countries and regions, while on the other, it imposes tax measures on some WTO members, including China. The ministry said the section was a serious violation of the non-discrimination principle of the multilateral trading system, and it undermined China's legitimate rights.
