It's only a day before the Chinese New Year's Eve, or Chuxi, and people around the country are gearing up for the big family reunion.
The number of railway passengers has hit its peak volume. More than 900-thousand people left from train stations in Beijing on Wednesday, and nearly 1.8 million in Shanghai. Transport authorities have come up with performances and celebrations on board to create a festive atmosphere. Those at home are busy cleaning it up to welcome the Year of the Dog. Markets nationwide have seen an influx of customers stocking up for holiday eating and drinking. People are also putting up couplets of good wishes on their doors, a tradition a day before New Year's Eve.
