Manchester United's boss Jose Mourinho was unhappy with the manner in which their rival Manchester City celebrated their 2-1 victory, ending with a confrontation between players and staff. Citizens coach Mikel Arteta also suffered a facial injury, while Mourinho was said to have been hit by a milk carton and several members of both playing squads also came face-to-face.
A Football Association (FA) investigation is underway and Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola has defended Manchester City's dressing-room behavior last Sunday, admitting that he "encouraged" his players to celebrate.
Pep Guardiola was asked if the celebrations may have been too much, the Spaniard said:"No. Definitely not. Believe me, definitely not. It was the same as for example the Southampton game. But it was 96 minutes and something like that. But we were ready, we were happy. So believe me we were happy, we won a derby against United. At that moment the best rival that we had to win it."
