The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will send a 140-member orchestra to perform during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in the Republic of Korea (ROK) next month, the ROK's Yonhap News Agency reported on Monday.
According to Seoul's unification ministry, the DPRK's Samjiyon Orchestra will hold concerts in the capital Seoul and at Gangeung near PyeongChang, where the ice sports during the Games will happen.
The unification ministry added the orchestra will cross the border through Panmunjom to get to the ROK by foot.
The released joint statement said, "The two sides plan to discuss details including the venue, stage conditions and other matters through consultations," adding that, "In this regard, the North (the DPRK) will send an advanced team at an early date."
The agreement on the orchestra was reached during working-level talks about the DPRK's plan to send an art troupe to the ROK, at the border truce village of Panmunjom on Monday.
