A wave of violence is sweeping the Sinai region in Egypt, after two policemen were killed and nine injured over the weekend, in a bomb attack on their vehicle in the city of Rafah.
The attack comes after Friday's battle against militants, in which at least 26 soldiers were killed and more than 40 militants died.
Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, the Arab League secretary general, strongly condemned the attack as barbaric. The Arab League has previously been criticized for not doing enough to counter terrorist attacks.
