Chinese Premier in Indonesia: Bilateral trade deals signed to boost cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is on a two-day visit to Indonesia. This is the first stop on Li's first overseas trip since he was re-elected as premier in March. He held talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. The two exchanged views on bilateral economic and trade ties, especially Chinese investment in Indonesia. Jiang Shaoyi has more.
It's a meeting between the largest economy in ASEAN and the world's second largest economy. Bilateral trade cooperation has been one key topic during the talks.
LI KEQIANG CHINESE PREMIER "We are important economic entities in the world, we are together to push economic growth and protect free trade, and also give convenience to trade."
The two nations have witnessed the signing of a series of cooperation deals on infrastructure building, and bilateral trade. Li said China is open to increasing its import quota of Indonesian palm oil by at least 500,000 tons. And Indonesia is also trying to increase exports to China.
JOKO WIDODO INDONESIAN PRESIDENT "In our bilateral meeting we have discussed how to increase our relationship to bring benefits to both countries. As two big countries in the region, I also conveyed that the strategic partnership between Indonesia and China could bring peace, stability and welfare to the world."
China is the third-largest foreign investor in Indonesia. And Chinese companies invested over three billion US dollars in Indonesia last year. The two countries are marking 5 years of their comprehensive strategic partnership. It's also the 15th anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. JSY CGTN.
